A Stellara name is symbolic. It is not an official astronomical designation. The International Astronomical Union is the only body that officially names stars. Stars we point to will outlast us; the name on our page is a record we keep, not a claim on the sky. Is naming a star real?

Questions
Is this official?
No. Please don’t buy this expecting an IAU or observatory record. Official star names are not for sale. Stellara is a commemorative page and certificate. Read more
Will the name last forever?
The star will be there. Our page and PDF are a record we maintain as a gift product. That is not the same as an official catalog name, and we don’t claim it is.
Do you notify family?
Only if you enter an email and opt in. We never contact anyone else.
Is this appropriate as a gift?
That’s your call. Some people want a small, private gesture. This page exists so the copy can be careful. If it doesn’t fit, don’t use it.
Can I choose the star?
Yes, on Browse. Otherwise we pick a visible unnamed star.
Do you ship a plaque or kit?
No. Digital page and PDF only. You may print the certificate.
