1. Nature of Star Naming

Star naming through Stellara is a symbolic and commemorative service. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the only internationally recognized authority that can officially name celestial objects. Names registered through Stellara are personal dedications and are not recognized by the scientific community.

Your star registration represents a personal gift, memorial, or dedication. It does not confer any ownership rights, scientific recognition, or official astronomical designation.

2. Service Description

When you register a star through Stellara, you receive:

• A unique star page with 3D visualization
• A downloadable digital certificate
• The ability to add a personal dedication
• Access to your star's page for as long as Stellara operates

A dedication is personal and non-transferable: the star name and dedication stay with the person they were recorded for and cannot be resold or reassigned.

3. Price, Payment and Refunds

Prices are shown in US dollars and charged once, at checkout, through Stripe. You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase as long as the star page or reveal link has not been shared with the recipient or anyone else. Email support@niftybits.co from the address used at checkout. When we refund a dedication, the star page, reveal page and certificate are withdrawn and the star becomes available to name again.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Stellara to:

• Submit content that is obscene, offensive, defamatory, or illegal
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others

Stellara reserves the right to remove any content that violates these terms.

5. Content Moderation

All star names and dedications are subject to moderation. We reserve the right to reject or remove content that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be inappropriate, offensive, or in violation of these terms.

6. Accuracy of Information

Star data in our database is sourced from AT-HYG (Hipparcos and Tycho-2, with Gaia DR3 distances), limited to stars of magnitude 10 or nearer than 100 light-years. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee the precision of astronomical data, including coordinates, distances, and spectral classifications.

7. Limitation of Liability

Stellara is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the dedication concerned.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Stellara after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
